Lightning win Fast5 at O2

A brilliant weekend down in London saw Lightning win Fast5

5 members of a team,  Up to 10 points per goal on occasions, and 12 mins per game.  It had it all on paper and it didn’t disappoint in real play.

Matchroom Sport were on board and thankfully Sky had sense to show the whole 5 hours on Sky Sports Mix so even credit for that.

The games were quick, at times we had no idea what the score was, the golden buzzer horns rang out in the Arena when the 2 min  “Power Play” had been activated.

What was noticeable watching without being behing an ad board directly behind the post was how intense it was for players – but also how they were all enjoying this version of the game and the smiles and jokes as the games finished. The crowd there was decent and it was good to hear the “ooooo” when quite often a team you wouldn’t usually support scored 5/10 points.

Plenty of people shone, George, Ellie but it was the consistency of Renske that few found hard to break down.

So what did I take from the afternoon – it’s really worthwhile doing again – perhaps centrally? somewhere like Manchester Arena would be handy for a lot who were concerned it was the capital on a Saturday night and expensive. The fact that in my years following the sport I have witnessed first hand Rachel Dunn playing C in person and the fact that Erena cuckoo’d at me for the ball and RT my tweet afterwards
